Techie news website. Generally very good. Editors have mostly a libertarian slant, but the general populace has a rather broad background.

Awesome up-to-the-minute news/rumors/commentary site with a high-tech high-IQ focus, and often covers things that the "traditional" media doesn't get around to (or just plain doesn't get). I have it set as my homepage.

Good tech site.

[ Interesting to see this get resurrected. The 4 element thread spans about 3 years, as people discover and meme the dot.

I've been reading it for what seems like eternity (user 15012) and i still check it every day, at least once. I don't spend much time in the threads, but I do meme stories I find there, so it's clearly still relevant to me. Do other old-time slashdot readers still find it worthwhile? -k]

slashdot is not resolving today. At least for Komkast customers. Since I'm running late, I don't have the time to check and see what might be the problem, but I find it kinda funny that they're having an outage, especially since they seem to be the source of so many outages. Maybe it's just geek karma?

"In response to requests for even easier access to the Binary Formats, Microsoft has agreed to remove any intermediate steps necessary to get the documentation. They're going to just post it, making it directly available as a download on the Microsoft web site. Microsoft will also make the Binary Formats subject to its Open Specification Promise by February 15, 2008. They're even planning to include an Open Source converter implementation."

i particularly like the tags the slashdotter has put on it
