USATODAY.com - Hackers have HOPE
by Decius at 1:23 pm EDT, Jul 15, 2004

] "If you're 15 and angry at your dad, you want to go and
] break something. But the biggest part of hacking is
] creation," notes "Acidus," a speaker at a Friday panel on
] intellectual property and technology.

The line that got be the biggest applause was "Do you think Marconi and Tesla could have built the radio if the telegraph was a little black box you couldn't open? We are selling out our future inventors and innovators for the short terms profits of the RIAA."

I forwarded this to a JR, friend I grew up with. He replied:

It amuses me to no end reading about you in the news followed by all sorts of ominous sounding phrases like: "The company's litigation threats were so powerful that Acidus is still not allowed to discuss the details of the settlement – or of his findings"

or ...

"When not hacking into your life savings, Acidus likes to spend his free time relaxing the beach eating steak...... and babies"

Sorry Abaddon! This wasn't exactly what I said, but close.

The line that got be the biggest applause was "Do you think Marconi and Tesla could have built the radio if the telegraph was a little black box you couldn't open? We are selling out our future inventors and innovators for the short terms profits of the RIAA."

There is a redundant post from Rattle not displayed in this view.
