Synthetic Biology

Synthetic biology refers to both (a) the design and fabrication of biological components and systems that do not already exist in the natural world and (b) the re-design and fabrication of existing biological systems.

that is cool, sounds like it's the biological or organic bent to nanotech, as opposed to little robots made out of silicon. the latter is sexier to me, but i imagine the former to be rather more practical in the short term (maybe the long term too). At any rate, if someone comes up with a "thing" which "destroys existing and prevents new cancer" i'll be just as happy if it's a biological "thing" as if it's a little crab shaped robot with a built in computer "thing".

There is a redundant post from Lost not displayed in this view.
