Gates: Security is top priority - Tech News - CNET.com
Topic: Technology 3:16 pm EST, Jan 17, 2002

This is one of the most surprising tech stories I've seen in a while. Gates plans to focus on computer security and privacy. Did they finally get a clue over there? Hrm... I'll beleive it when I see it... I imagine they finally must have started loosing sales because of their track record.

"The problem isn’t figuring out how to get people to become more “innovative”; it’s figuring out how to get people to accept and apply innovations more productively."

Stream Control Transmission Protocol
Topic: Technology 3:28 am EST, Jan  3, 2002

This is fucking awesome. It totally solves the multi-homing problem with no need to rework IP addressing, and extensions to allow for dynamic changes to associations will fix the mobile IP roaming problem as well. You will not use TCP anymore in 5 years.

Rock. HP is playing around with augmented reality technology that allows you to tie audio messages to a physical location. Ultimately I'd like to see this sort of system tied into display technology such that you can create virtual objects that exist in real places.
