Best war reporters: The Russians?
Topic: Current Events 10:28 am EST, Apr  2, 2003

] You see, Russians are monitoring all radio traffic over
] Iraq, and they have some fancy toys that give them a very
] clear picture of what's going on. But what's amazing is
] that they post their findings on the internet. They predict
] division movements and tactics
] with devestating accuracy, and their analysis seems very
] well supported. One webpage, which takes a few minutes to
] read, contains far more information about the war than 4
] hours of CNN.

Speak your mind. Lose your job.

] On Sunday, NBC News had issued a statement supporting
] Arnett, saying that Arnett gave the interview to Iraqi TV
] as a "professional courtesy" and that his remarks "were
] analytical in nature and were not intended to be anything
] more."
]
] But a day later, NBC issued a different statement. "It
] was wrong for him to grant an interview to state-run
] Iraqi TV, especially in a time of war."

Salon.com Life | Bushes against Bush

Yet another anti-Bush rally that I wish I could have attended.

The protesters would disrobe, form the Chinese symbol for peace, and a photographer would climb up into a cherry picker and take their picture from above. I wasn't really sure how nudity was going to help the peace movement, but I'd never gotten naked in front of more than two people at a time, and the idea of doing it for something I believed in seemed like a great idea.

Middle-school 'mafia boss' arrested on felony charges
Topic: Current Events 9:58 am EST, Mar 26, 2003

So there's this 14 year old, "The Boss", and all he wanted to to do was figure out "how he could make money, fast." The plan? "The Boss envisioned making as much as $100,000 by assigning various 'jobs' to his friends, then taking a 25 percent cut for himself. The Boss, according to one of the lists he compiled, envisioned his "family" making money in prostitution, weapons sales, money laundering, recruiting hit men - even candy sales." Well, atleast they new their market with the candy sales. So the story gets better. Another student "arrested on the misdemeanor charge was nicknamed 'The Hacker' because he was supposed to alter grades in the school's computer system." Now, I won't ruin the plot or climax for you but I'm thinking this should be a TV show or movie called Youngfellows.

CUYAHOGA FALLS -- A member of Ohio's 5694th National Guard Unit in Mansfield legally changed his name to a Transformers toy.

Optimus Prime is heading out to the Middle East with his guard unit on Wednesday to provide fire protection for airfields under combat.

"On Sunday, we were awarded as the best firefighting unit in the Army National Guard in the entire country," said Prime. "That was a big moment for us."

Prime took his name from the leader of the Autobots Transformers, which were popular toys and a children's cartoon in the 1980s.

He legally changed his name on his 30th birthday and now it's on everything from his driver's licence, to his military ID, to his uniform.
