Jellorian Guide to Tolerating Acute Mountain Sickness When You Quickly Ascend to 10K Feet
Topic: Health and Wellness 11:13 pm EST, Jan 31, 2007

1) Diamox. 500mg a day. Beware, even at sea level you have to drink alot of water or this can dehydrate you, which will ruin you at altitude. Get this from your doctor. Start this the day before you fly to high altitude.

2) Ginkgo Biloba. This stuff makes me feel better too. I take 160mg twice a day. Some studies indicate that 60mg twice a day is effective, but why stop there? Start two days before you fly.

3) Force a gallon of water down your gullet a day. AMS reduces thirst, and so does Diamox. When you have to pee, before you go, drink another glass of water. This is key. I think. When you wake up, drink water. Before you go to sleep, drink water. Put a glass of water bedside for late night drinkage. Drink 2 glasses before each meal. Oh, and you should eat. Altitude kills your appetite.

4) Toradol. When the headaches come, this stuff woops their ass. Then again, so might Tylenol, without the risk of internal bleeding.

5) Coffee. I'm tired, so I drink a ton of caffiene. This may irritate the AMS. But I needs my energy.

This works at 10,000 feet, for me. I am not a doctor, but I like to think I could have been, so I play one in my head.

Exenatide Promotes Weight Loss in Overweight Diabetic Patients
Topic: Health and Wellness 4:02 am EST, Jan 28, 2007

Oct. 24, 2005 — Exenatide (Byetta) appears to promote weight loss in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2), according to new research findings. The drug is currently approved as a glucose control agent for type 2 diabetes when used in combination with metformin and/or sulfonylureas.

Exenatide helps maintain glucose control by mimicking the actions of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), and it enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion. The agent, the first in the class of incretin mimetics, has been shown to reduce glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels in patients with DM2.

Many antidiabetic agents are associated with weight gain in patients with type 2 diabetes, who are often already overweight or obese. Thus, a weight loss effect with an antidiabetic agent would provide additional benefits when treating these patients.

The amplitude of my weight loss is 100 pounds. The period of the sine wave is 1.5 years. I am at the top of the sin wave. My doctor prescribed me this diabetic medication that will act as a "chemical gastric bypass," by making my belly feel full more quickly, because it will empty its contents slower. I inject with a pen-thing across my belly in 4 spots, 15 minutes before I eat. Thats it. 3 times a day you get that feeling of "stuffed" much more easily.

Since I'm already exercising, this should be very effective. I will let everyone know.

Trepanation
Topic: Health and Wellness 8:16 am EDT, Sep 15, 2006

This weekend I had a hole drilled through my skull. I read that this increased one’s consciousness permanently. I read about the supposed de-conditioning properties. I read about more parts of the brain working simultaneously as there would be more blood up there to help this happen. The arguments for it all seemed to be quite lengthy, quite detailed, thought out and researched, and very intelligent. The arguments against it were based solely on the opinion that it is ‘crazy’ and talk like, "What’s more conscious than conscious?". I heard from an acquaintance on telephone that she was glad she had done it, felt more mental energy, and had days of brilliance. I came to believe that the key to a permanent consciousness increase was a hole in the skull, to restore the full brain pulsation of infancy. After several months of research, discussion, speculation, watching surgical videos and trepanation documentaries, and even an actual viewing of a trepanation, I decided I certainly did want to be trepanned, and sought a way to do it.

Tramadol ( Ultram ) Half-Life
Topic: Health and Wellness 3:58 pm EDT, Jul 12, 2006

Plasma concentrations of racemic tramadol are predictable over a 50 mg to 100 mg single-dose range. This is also true under multiple-dose conditions. Steady state is achieved after two days of dosing Ultram by a 100 mg q.i.d. regimen (maximum plasma concentration was 592 177 ng/ml). The plasma half-life of tramadol following a single and multiple dosing was 6 and 7 hours, respectively. This increase in half-life upon multiple dosing is not considered to be clinically significant or to warrant dosage adjustment for chronic use.

Really long half-life. Don't overdo it.

Imitrex Indications, Dosage, Storage, Stability - Sumatriptan Succinate - RxList Monographs
Topic: Health and Wellness 6:38 pm EDT, Jul 10, 2006

Sumatriptan succinate tablets are indicated for the acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura in adults.

Sumatriptan succinate tablets are not intended for the prophylactic therapy of migraine or for use in the management of hemiplegic or basilar migraine (see CONTRA

Makes me feel very, very strange but... this is the good stuff. Very quick cure, and if the pill isn't fast enough there is a nasal spray or injection.

INTJ Profile
Topic: Health and Wellness 3:20 am EDT, Jul  4, 2006

o outsiders, INTJs may appear to project an aura of "definiteness", of self-confidence. This self-confidence, sometimes mistaken for simple arrogance by the less decisive, is actually of a very specific rather than a general nature; its source lies in the specialized knowledge systems that most INTJs start building at an early age. When it comes to their own areas of expertise -- and INTJs can have several -- they will be able to tell you almost immediately whether or not they can help you, and if so, how. INTJs know what they know, and perhaps still more importantly, they know what they don't know.
