Today, I received a letter from the IRS saying I owed $4000. The problem is that I don't owe $4000. The problem is that the tax code is so complex that the IRS fucked up their own books. In fact, the IRS owes me more money. I am so pissed off right now - I'm going to rant and as the Internet is the place where every jackass on earth can voice his opinion with the same lack of credibility as every other jackass, I figure I am owed my due.

It just doesn't make any sense why we are paying taxes this high anyway. For that matter, why are we paying them at all? If I give someone $20 to mow my lawn, and then they don't. The next time they come by my house, I don't give them another $20 dollars. When you pay someone, you are supposed to get what you payed for. I wouldn't have such a problem paying taxes except I don't get what I pay for.

Every time I pay my taxes the streets still have potholes, the schools are still terrible, we don't have universal health care (not saying we need but for the amount we spend we could), and yet I still have to pay money. Where are my taxes going? What is the government doing with my money? The only thing keeping me from not paying my taxes is the threat of going to jail and honestly, the jokes on them. The cost of maintaining an inmate is higher than the average American pays in taxes.

This seems retarded. Even the tax structure is retarded. Why should I pay more of my paycheck for making more money? Why should anyone? Why don't we set a flat rate? Then everyone would just pay the same amount of their income no matter how much they make. That seems reasonable. Or how about just tax me when I spend it. Then I don't even have to file a tax return. That would be awesome because its a FUCKING WASTE OF MY TIME!

All I wanted to do was make some money. I don't mind giving some of it up if I got results but it seems like every time I take one step forward, the government wants me to take two steps back. Its hard enough making the money and now we can't keep it! What are we - fucking stupid?

I'm a smart guy. Well, kind of but apparently not smart enough. I can't file my own taxes now? Why the fuck can't I file my own taxes? Because it doesn't make any fucking sense. Thats why. I shouldn't have to give someone money to give the government an appropriate amount of money it doesn't spend appropriately. Every American should be able to file their taxes simply if at all!

You know what we need to do? Other than abolish our current tax system... We need to restructure how we "realize" gains. If you sell a stock and roll it into another, you shouldn't pay taxes on it then. You should pay taxes on the gains you remove from it. That makes sense. Let people build a fortune and treat everything as long term gains but make income be taxed at the same rate as capital gains. Then everyone sees the same benefit at the same rate for working or investment. Everyone wins!

And for everyone who says that only helps the rich? Well, why don't we start educating people on building wealth? The poor are allowed to buy stocks. They just don't know how. If we are going to help the poor stop being poor, why don't we teach them how to get out of a slump and make money work for them.

I'm think these things would be great. Start educating people instead of subsidizing people. How awesome would that be? Instead of welfare, make everyone work. If you want a welfare check, then you have to come to the job the government assigned to you. Don't like your job, then get a new one. Don't like working, starve. I'm not an evil person but it justs seems like our compassion is killing us.

Well, Our compassion is killing us along with our politicians and leaders. Our politicians are supposed to be smarter than us. They are supposed to be better with money than we are. They aren't! Ever wonder why most Americans are in so much debt? The same reason the entire country is! Because we are all irresponsible and think that we can be cavalier because its not our money. Its someone's money in a lot of cases its the taxpayers. You have to pay that money back. Its not fucking free.

We pay $406 billion in interest on debt every year! $406 billion dollars!!!!!!!!! God Damnit!!!! What the fuck are we doing? We pay more in interest to foreign debt holders than we do in domestic savings accounts? Why? Stop borrowing money, god damnit!

Let me say it again. Stop borrowing so much mother fucking money! God damnit!

What ever happened to only spend what you make? That sounded like a great idea. Don't have money. Guess what? You don't get to spend money. Its so simple it hurts.

It doesn't help that we have drained the social security fund. Thats right the social security FUND. Social security actually has its own trust fund. Unfortunately, what the government did was instead of spending less money, it acts kind of like a dead beat relative and just borrows money from it's responsibly relative (social security fund) until it has drained it all. The fund is full of IOU's. IOU's that aren't worth the paper they written on. You might ask what happens to all of that social security money? Well, it gets loaned to congress and put in the general fund. We never put it back. I don't understand how we are this dumb.

I say, lets destroy all the budgets. Lets give everyone $0 dollars at start of every fiscal quarter. Now justify why you deserve more money. Every fucking penny. Get more competitive. Make it easier to bid on contracts. Its fucking hard to get government contracts. Lets make it easy. Lets make that tax payer dollar go a lot further. It would be the only way we could stretch the dollar anyway because....

......THE CURRENCY IS TANKING!!!!!!!!

I'm not saying we need to switch to a gold standard but we need to make it so people want to use our currency again. Get some value back in it. Its fucking stupid how inflation has destroyed our currency which is really the economic strength this country has to depend on. When Ben Bernake says that the average American doesn't see the increase in cost from the currency falling then he hasn't looked at the price of EVERYTHING recently. I want to punch Bernake in the face! A weak currency means that all of our imports which are a huge amount of everything we bring in is more experience. Its fucking silly to think we are ignoring common sense.

We spend $752 Billion on the Department of Health and Human Services (same people that do medicare). This means that at roughly 303 Million Americans and resident aliens, we spend roughly $200+ per person a month. I'm not saying we need universal health care but for that much fucking money, why doesn't everyone in America have a health insurance policy? And on a policy that large - $200 goes a long way!

I don't understand what the advantage is of being an American any more? It used to be a privilege, then it was a right, and now its a hassle. You can't keep the money you make! We are the only country other than two countries(whose GDP rival my local taco stand) that taxes our citizens when they don't live in the country! What the fuck are we doing? People are actually renouncing their citizenship because they don't want to pay the kind of taxes we institute on them. I don't blame them. Good for them. The only advantage about being an American is that you aren't AUTOMATICALLY considered a terrorist!

And why? Because our government isn't afraid of its people? Why? Because we don't care!

Ever wonder why more people voted for American Idol than in any presidential election in American history? Because people don't care anymore. Things are so screwed up that people don't want to change things to be better because they just consider it part of life! How did we get here? How the fuck did we get to a point when complacency was acceptable. How did we get to a point where we don't care about making it better – we just care about making new problems suck less?

We need change. Major change. Change of foreign policy, fiscal policy, and domestic policy. Shouldn't capitalism have crushed any concept of socialism in this country already? No. Why? Because we suck.
