Brown-Forman Beverages Worldwide and Miller Brewing Co. said Monday their joint flavored-malt drink, Jack Daniel’s Original Hard Cola, will join the race among alternative alcoholic drinks this summer.
Jack Daniel’s Original Hard Cola “has a cola base flavor in which you can taste Jack Daniel’s,” said Erin Schlader, director for the Jack Daniel’s brand. He said that some consumers said the drink has some vanilla flavor to it, while others said it tastes a little bit like root beer.
The drink has 5 percent alcohol by volume.
The dark cola-colored drink will come in 12-ounce amber longneck bottles, Schlader said. Its label is evocative of the classic black and white label for Jack Daniel’s Whiskey.

The device is so simple and elegant that it almost looks like a toy. A tiny magnet jumps into a well of fluid, grabs some DNA, jumps into another well to rinse itself off, then another. In the last well, it spins around and releases the DNA of interest and makes it ready for a clinician to identify.

Maybe in 2053, when my clone is having coffee with your clone, the arguments in Francis Fukuyama's cautionary polemic "Our Posthuman Future: Consequences of the Biotechnology Revolution" will seem as quaint as the early opposition to railroads does today.

... Fukuyama told Salon why he thinks that the right to be cloned and to tinker with our offspring's genes aren't liberties that we should all enjoy, and what should be done to restrain the onrush of biotechnology.

I am going to wait until I finish the book to comment.

While the pill revolutionised sex, removing it from the process of reproduction, artificial insemination, then later in vitro fertilisation, egg donation, surrogacy and, soon, cloning further separate the components of reproduction from the biological act of mating. The artificial womb completes the process. "

See, I think we need artifical wombs, but not for these reasons. We need artifical wombs so that when babies are born prematurely, they still have a chance to develop and live.
