France opens secret UFO files covering 50 years - Yahoo! News
Topic: Science 6:33 pm EDT, Mar 29, 2007

PARIS (AFP) - France became the first country to open its files on UFOs Thursday when the national space agency unveiled a website documenting more than 1,600 sightings spanning five decades.

The online archives, which will be updated as new cases are reported, catalogues in minute detail cases ranging from the easily dismissed to a handful that continue to perplex even hard-nosed scientists.

"It is a world first," said Jacques Patenet, the aeronautical engineer who heads the office for the study of "non-identified aerospatial phenomena."

Makes you wonder why the hell they kept the bullshit secret to begin with...

LiveScience.com - Vision Gear Bypasses the Eye
Topic: Science 2:11 pm EDT, Mar 27, 2007

The Forehead Retina System (FRS) uses a special headband to selectively stimulate different mechanoreceptors in forehead skin to allow visually impaired people to "see" a picture of what lies in front of them. The Forehead Retina System is the result of collaborative research by Tachi laboratory at the University of Tokyo and EyePlusPlus, Inc.

The Forehead Retina System uses tactile sensations in the forehead to present a "picture" of the outline of objects; this enables visually impaired people to "see" what is in front of them.

Really neat... Makes me want to use it to have eyes in the back of my head.

Bald blind men will now have the equivalent of wide screen.

Jim Channon, creator of the First Earth Battalion has written a more recent book. I wonder what sorts of torture this will inspire for the future.

I shall not here defend the views held by the scientific establishment. I am among those who have done that elsewhere, in many books. My purpose in this article is only to convey the full magnitude of the error into which, if Burgess and McIntosh are right, the scientific establishment has fallen.

First, the age of the Earth. McIntosh thinks, on biblical authority alone, that it is less than 10,000 years.

Dear god I just can't see how he pulled this off but some 17-year old has built a fusion reaction device in his freaking basement.

I know exactly how far that would have gotten with my mom, encouraging soul or not. "There is no way you're blowing up the house."

"You're grounded! Now go OUTSIDE!"

BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Huge 'hurricane' rages on Saturn
Topic: Science 12:15 pm EST, Nov 10, 2006

A hurricane-like storm, two-thirds the diameter of Earth, is raging at Saturn's south pole, new images from Nasa's Cassini space probe reveal.

Measuring 5,000 miles (8,000km) across, the storm is the first hurricane ever detected on a planet other than Earth.

Scientists say the storm has the eye and eye-wall clouds characteristic of a hurricane and its winds are swirling clockwise at 350mph (550km/h).

However, unlike Earth hurricanes it seems stuck at the pole, not drifting.

Dennis Kucinich introduced bill to ban orbital mind control lasers
Topic: Science 11:13 am EST, Nov 10, 2006

Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) introduced a bill in the House of Representatives late last year that would ban weapons in space. But while there have been many similar legislative initiatives in the past, Rep. Kucinich's bill is distinguished by its unusually expansive definition of "weapons."

Among the weapons that it would proscribe the new measure includes "psychotronic" devices that are "directed at individual persons or targeted populations for the purpose of ... mood management, or mind control."

Well.. Ok then..

This is old, but when something like this comes across your radar, you must pass it on..

'Aliens could attack at any time' warns former MoD chief | the Daily Mail
Topic: Science 11:13 am EST, Nov 10, 2006

UFO sightings and alien visitors tend to be solely the reserve of sci-fi movies.

So when a former MoD chief warns that the country could be attacked by extraterrestrials at any time, you may be forgiven for feeling a little alarmed.

During his time as head of the Ministry of Defence UFO project, Nick Pope was persuaded into believing that other lifeforms may visit Earth and, more specifically, Britain.

"The consequences of getting this one wrong could be huge," he said.

"If you reported a UFO sighting now, I am absolutely sure that you would just get back a standard letter telling you not to worry. "Frankly we are wide open - if something does not behave like a conventional aircraft now, it will be ignored.

"The X-Files have been closed down." If these words had come from a sci-fi fanatic, they could be easily dismissed by cynics.

This morning is clearly taking on "news of the weird" theme...

Forget the terrorists... We got aliens to worry about!
