The US government has unveiled a "non-lethal" laser rifle designed to dazzle enemy personnel without causing them permanent harm. But the device will require close scrutiny to ensure compliance with a United Nations protocol on blinding laser weapons. The Personnel Halting and Stimulation Response (PHASR) rifle was developed at the Air Force Research Laboratory in New Mexico, US, and two prototypes have been delivered to military bases in Texas and Virginia for further testing.

Take each letter of the alphabet, rotate it in 3D space, and then take the resulting blob and use *it* as the letter. One way of doing a substitution cipher, I guess . . . 3D Alphabet |

Five years ago, while on a particularly chilly camping trip with his father, Justin faced an age old dilemma: “How can I possibly leave the warm haven of my sleeping bag for the cold morning wilderness?” Being a natural problem-solver, Justin figured there had to be a way to stay in his warm sleeping bag and still get up and walk around. His solution: the Quad Zipper. The Quad Zipper is a new zipper technology that allows for synchronized, compartmental transformation of fabrics. The Quad Zipper simultaneously zips and unzips parallel rows of zipper tape to transform articles of clothing without adding or removing any parts. For example, the Quad Zipper transforms a sleeping bag into a walking suit, allowing the occupant to get up and walk around in their sleeping bag while maintaining the generated body heat trapped inside.

Teleportation--"sending" atoms, or at least their properties, through space without any physical movement--is possible, according to scientists at the National Institute for Standards and Technologies. In a paper published in the journal Nature, NIST scientists say they were able to transfer the quantum state, or list of active properties, of one beryllium atom to another. The quantum state describes such physical characteristics as energy, motion and magnetic field.

What is Google Print? Google's mission is to organize the world's information, but much of that information isn't yet online. Google Print aims to get it there by putting book content where you can find it most easily – right in your Google search results. How does Google Print work? Just do a search on the Google Print homepage. When we find a book whose content contains a match for your search terms, we'll link to it in your search results. Click a book title and you'll see the page of the book that has your search terms, along with other information about the book and "Buy this Book" links to online bookstores (you can view the entirety of public domain books or, for books under copyright, just a few pages or in some cases, only the title’s bibliographic data and brief snippets). You can also search for more information within that specific book and find nearby libraries that have it.

Oh, look. A gender based toilet seat product. How entertaining, I can hear the “LOL’s” coming already. This device is placed on the inside of the top toilet seat. When the seat is up and it detects motion, there will be a red light illuminating a bulls-eye in the water, you know, for competitive urinators. When the seat the down there is a green light illuminating the seat so females can gently guide their way to the seat. If all women would just start using the P-Mate we could avoid having to deal with stupid gadgets like this.

Roughly the size of a disposable lighter, the Bluetooth Virtual Laser Keyboard leverages the power of laser and infrared technology to project a full-size qwerty keyboard onto any flat surface.
Pricey for what it does, but neat idea. I wonder how well it works. mytreo.net/store Virtual Laser Keyboard (Bluetooth) |
