I'm not a GWB fan by any means but would you call Dr. Steven Hawking dumb cuz he isn't a moving and charismatic speaker ? Some of the most fucking brilliant minds are horrible orators. W. earned a masters degree from an Ivy League University so he can't really be that dumb in the end.

Would you rather I call him handicapped? Not only is he not a moving and charismatic speaker, but the way he scrambles random words together in a cocaine addled sentence make him seem quite dumb. A big difference between GWB and the people you compare him to is that they usually (despite whatever speaking difficulty) are generally able to convey a rational point that makes sense. Sometimes, I get the impression Bush doesn't even really know what he's trying to say.

This thing actually raised my opinion of Bush. It looks like he had such a serious drinking problem for such a long time that he learned to socialize only while intoxicated. If he had a few drinks in him, the state of the union might be moving.

I think your throwing the word 'earned' around a bit loosely here. Kinda like he 'earned' the right to land on an aircraft carrier wearing a commanders uniform.

The Carrier event was a shameless exercize in PR photo ops. I'll give you that but does anyone have any thing to backup the academic claims? Last time I checked, Harvard , Yale, Brown and Princeton were not selling degrees to high bidders or Dads with big checkbooks.
