My discussions with Government officials in Korea about internet censorship led me to conclude that many of them view their citizens in much the way that adults view children: Unable to be responsible for their own decisions, unable to make up their own minds objectively about information that is presented to them. I encoraged them that being exposed to a multitude of viewpoints would strengthen their citizens as they learned to think critically and separate the wheat from the chaffe. They were extremely resistant to this point of view and maintained that people needed to be protected from dangerous images and ideas.
