Multiple Intelligence Test
by k at 5:41 pm EDT, Aug 31, 2004

This is the adult version of a test we give children in school to figure out how they learn best thus telling us how to be more effective teachers. So if you are interested take the test and see what it has to say about your learning style. This is all based on Gardner and his theory of multiple intellegences. (he recently added 1 that deals with technology)

[ Hmm... I got

Linguistic: 7
Logical-Mathematical: 8
Spatial: 3
Bodily-Kinesthetic: 6
Musical: 11
Interpersonal: 5
Intrapersonal: 9

I'd be interested to see what the description is of "spatial" since I've always considered myself quite good at things like spatial translation and ability to position myself in surroundings, directions, etc.

As for my highest score being musical, I find that very interesting since, while i love music, I've never considered it a prime vocational candidate. Either I'm very wrong about myself, or this test doesn't adequately differentiate someone who really loves to listen to music and someone who really wants to create music.

Other than that, it's ok, though I'd have guessed the linguistic number to be a bit higher. -k]

This intelligence represents the knowing that occurs through the shapes, images, patterns, designs, and textures we see with our external eyes, but also includes all of the images we are able to conjure inside our heads. If you are strong in this intelligence you tend to think in images and pictures. You are likely very aware of object, shapes, colors, textures, and patterns in the environment around you. You probably like to draw, paint, and make interesting designs and patterns, and work with clay, colored markers, construction paper, and fabric.

It is not about creating music it is about the way you absorb info the best.

This is the knowing that happens through sound and vibration. it is not limited to music and rhythm so I’m calling it auditory-vibrational, for it deals with the whole realm of sound, tones, beats, and vibrational patterns as well as music. it is not limited to music and rhythm so I’m calling it auditory-vibrational, for it deals with the whole realm of sound, tones, beats, and vibrational patterns as well as music. If you are strong in this intelligence area you likely have a love of music and rhythmic patterns. You are probably very sensitive to sounds in the environment; the chirp of cricket, rain on the roof, varying traffic patterns. You may study and work better with music in the background.

It pegged me for spatial:
Spatial - the ability to perceive and represent the visual-spatial world accurately, to arrange color, line, shape, form and space to meet the needs of others, to interpret and graphically represent visual or spatial ideas, to transform visual or spatial ideas into imaginative and expressive creations. Possible vocations that use spatial intelligence include illustrator, artist, guide, photographer, interior decorator, painter, clothing designer, weaver, builder, architect, art critic, inventor, or cinematographer.

Linguistic: 9
Logical-Mathematical: 10
Spatial: 11
Bodily-Kinesthetic: 5
Musical: 4
Interpersonal: 6
Intrapersonal: 8

The Seven Intelligence Areas

Linguistic: 10
Logical-Mathematical: 11
Spatial: 4
Bodily-Kinesthetic: 6
Musical: 9
Interpersonal: 8
Intrapersonal: 6

A Short Definition of your Highest Score

Logical-Mathematical - the ability to use numbers to compute and describe, to use mathematical concepts to make conjectures, to apply mathematics in personal daily life, to apply mathematics to data and construct arguments, to be sensitive to the patterns, symmetry, logic, and aesthetics of mathematics, and to solve problems in design and modeling. Possible vocations that use the logical-mathematics intelligence include accountant, bookkeeper, statistician, tradesperson, homemaker, computer programmer, scientist, composer, engineer, inventor, or designer.

---

Gee, computer programmer as a vocation...who would have thought. :) Actually, I would have to agree with some of the results. I also scored unusually high in music, but perhaps that is because I *do* play an instrument (piano) and know how to read music and stuff. But I have no desire, at all, to do it for a living.

I got the following, which wasn't really suprising, since I used to be a professional musician, and while I'm a good writer, I always hated language arts. Sadly, my Intrapersonal is a bit lower than desired, but that's because I tend to be halfway INTP/ENTP I think.

Linguistic: 5

Logical-Mathematical: 9

Spatial: 10

Bodily-Kinesthetic: 11

Musical: 12

Interpersonal: 9

Intrapersonal: 7

I'm not so sure that this test is that accurate. lol I'm highly verbal/linguistic and spacial, but I don't fancy myself as being overly musical and I'd make an awful musician.

I scored:
Linguistic: 9

Logical-Mathematical: 6

Spatial: 10

Bodily-Kinesthetic: 2

Musical: 11

Interpersonal: 6

Intrapersonal: 8

This is a fun test. I'm not sure the questions are the best, and I kind of think that a graduated answer scale would be better then binary responses. I'm kind of surprised that I didn't score higher on spacial. Anyway, my results were, well, inconclusive, which is typical for me and personality tests.

The Seven Intelligence Areas:
Linguistic: 9
Logical-Mathematical: 9
Spatial: 7
Bodily-Kinesthetic: 6
Musical: 8
Interpersonal: 7
Intrapersonal: 9

OOH! Take this and let's compare!

Multiple Intelligences

I scored:

Linguistic: 8
Logical-Mathematical: 10
Spatial: 5
Bodily-Kinesthetic: 7
Musical: 10
Interpersonal: 5
Intrapersonal: 7

that's fairly accurate, but I also consider myself pretty good at spatially-oriented things. I am an avid music collector, but I can't really picture myself doing anything with it other than for my own enjoyment.
