Republicans Admit Mailing Campaign Literature Saying Liberals Will Ban the Bible
by adamist at 9:05 am EDT, Sep 24, 2004

] The Republican Party acknowledged yesterday sending mass
] mailings to residents of two states warning that
] "liberals" seek to ban the Bible. It said the mailings
] were part of its effort to mobilize religious voters for
] President Bush.
]
] The mailings include images of the Bible labeled "banned"
] and of a gay marriage proposal labeled "allowed." A
] mailing to Arkansas residents warns: "This will be
] Arkansas if you don't vote." A similar mailing was sent
] to West Virginians.
]
] In an e-mail message, Christine Iverson, a spokeswoman
] for the Republican National Committee, confirmed that the
] party had sent the mailings.

That's the national party that sent these out. Not some crazy locals. Not a 527 group.

Adamist, you seriously need to get a job. The election is not that important. Remember when you posted that thing about weight loss? That was helpful. Since that time, your posts have gone from haughty assumptions that Kerry would take office in January to the sad string of desperate nonsense that usually populates your posts, these days. This is one of your better posts seeing as it draws upon a reliable source, offers something pertinent and interesting. On the other hand, you still abuse the recommendation system by recommending nothing of use to us that isn't culled from either an obvious source or a fringe piece of literature. Why do you assume that no one on memestreams reads the news? It's a known fact that NYC liberals are snotty intellectual elitists with little to back themselves up but gut emotions, twisted facts and a very in-your-face oriented style of supporting an argument. So, with this in mind, you live in the most varied city in the nation with every type of media outlet imaginable. Why can't you use the site to enlighten the rest of the users as to what interesting things are happening near you? Movies, plays, books, bands, new clubs, and even events would serve to enlighten us. Instead you demean us by wasting space with garbage. You infuriate me more than anyone else on this site. How can you live in NYC and spend all of your time looking at fucking news sites? Get out and live, man.

[ It's simply stunning that this kind of shit is considered acceptible public discourse. Really, remarkably low. -k]
