It is the podcsaters that came up with the term "podsafe" to describe music that was safe to include in a podcast. Because a podcast is not streamed and actually resides as a file on your hard drive, it is very expensive to get all the licensing the RIAA requires if you want to use a Big Label song in your show.

If you want to get technical about it, the term "podcast" doesn't really make sense because most people don't listen to podcasts on their Ipods. But it is a term that has stuck so we use it because the podcasters out there will see it and know what it means.
