The secret Downing Street memo - Sunday Times - Times Online
by Mike the Usurper at 8:33 pm EDT, Jun 1, 2005

] C reported on his recent talks in Washington. There was a
] perceptible shift in attitude. Military action was now
] seen as inevitable. Bush wanted to remove Saddam, through
] military action, justified by the conjunction of
] terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were
] being fixed around the policy. The NSC had no patience
] with the UN route, and no enthusiasm for publishing
] material on the Iraqi regime's record. There was little
] discussion in Washington of the aftermath after military
] action.

And now we see that there really was a rush to war. Lovely.

Presumably you saw my recent post entitled The Secret Way To War, which also included a copy of this memo. The article (from the New York Review of Books) provides extensive commentary on the memo, as well. I found it to be quite helpful in putting the memo in context.
