New pope doesn't approve of Harry Potter
by skullaria at 11:03 am EDT, Jul 14, 2005

That's ok...I don't approve of HIM. Glad I am not Catholic. The old pope approved of Harry Potter. Its ok one year but not the next. Oh, screw that.

I think the headline of the article is *extremely* misleading. The Pope is not criticizing Harry Potter. The man who is *currently* Pope, two years ago, while holding his last job, *before* he was Pope, did express a concern though.

I wish reporters would work harder at getting their tenses straight....

Well, he's obviously read them, does this mean he's been "subtlety seduced" into corruption? (Beyond being a Nazi anyway.) What is he saying here? That he can handle his shit, and the rest of Christianity is much too stupid to read these books and not be induced into an obviously contrived bull-shit world??? Oh... Wait. Never-mind, he's got a point.

Apart from being inflammatory, do you have any evidence of this? Everything I have read which attributes these characteristics to him mention his presence in the "Hitler Youth" and in the German Army. Both of which, at the time were mandatory, and he left the former to attend seminary and deserted the latter. If you have further evidence, please point me in the right direction.

Hitler Youth...Nazi... Whatever. I suppose he just followed orders and the experience was much less corrupting than when young christians read books.

Who cares? If one is not a Catholic, then what point does it make to pay such close attention to such a picyune thing as whether or not the pope approves of fucking Harry Potter. I don't approve of Harry Potter because it is an insult to intelligence and a ripoff of Neil Gaiman's Books of Magic comics from the nineties. Do you know that certain Muslims forbid music? Do you care about that? How about orthodox jews? Their religion forbids many things. Why don't you trash them? You are too politically correct for your own good, people! It borders on ludicrous.

The muslims really seem to mean it, orthodox jews ostracize everyone who is not a orthodox jew, but the catholics want everyone to be like them, but they can't quite follow the rules themselves. Instead the only thing they're renowned for is condemning non-christians. Muslims will either not bother with the outside world, or just kill people they don't like. There's a purity there which I can't really agree with, but at least I can respect it. Orthodox jews are living advertisements to everyone else on why living like the orthodox jews in no way seems attractive. But, catholics are even worse than Harry Potter fans. Harry Potter Fans aren't trying to make the rules from their dumb little book LAW for everyone to live by. There isn't a coalition to force everyone into wearing scarves and chant incantations at the beginning of school. The catholics, like many religions point to one of democracies greatest failings, when these idiots have the majority in a country, everyone must play their stupid potter-like game.

So fuck pope hitlerpants.
