Citizens Free to Videotape Cops
by Catonic at 3:45 pm EDT, Aug 26, 2005

A state police department has to pay $41,000 to a man who they stopped from filming them.

I imagine we'll soon see lots of video clips of troopers sitting on the side of the road, sleeping. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

That Utah Rave can sue on that basis then. On that videotape, that cop flat told that guy to stop filming in a most intimidating manner, and made him put the camera DOWN. I HOPE that more cops get filmed. Every person maybe should carry a videocamera IN CASE they get stopped by the cops. I had a cop threaten to carry me to jail because I took too long at a roadblock going through a messy wallet in the dark trying to find which ID was my drivers' license. I'd have LOVED to have that on tape. I personally think roadblocks should be illegal too.
