THE HANGING STRANGER: What Does Happen When You Burn An American Flag?
by flynn23 at 10:23 pm EDT, Oct 21, 2005

If these mutated particles were to stay high up in the atmosphere, then it would be no big deal. The problem is these particles are so heavy with ickiness that they'll eventually make their way back to ground level, poisoning everyone in their path.

So, not only do we have less freedom as a result of burning the American flag, we have more unnatural forms of freedom, nicknamed "freekdom" by scientists, which slowly poison our society.

Why would you want to burn an American flag? I mean, you burn them actually when they are to be disposed - in a proper way.

If I ever saw people burning the American flag in front of me, I'd be very happy because voilence makes me happy and my response would be, a happy one.

Why do you want to do anything? Why do you eat what you eat? Worship what you worship? Have sex with what you have sex with? Why? Because this is the USA, and we have founded our country on the ability to do as you wish with almost no exception. That's what makes our country great, and that's why many have died to defend that freedom. Burning a flag is exactly that. It's just igniting a piece of cloth. Perhaps you have a purpose for it. You may be burning it in effigy. Declaring your distaste for what this country is doing or becoming. Perhaps you are just properly disposing of trash. Whatever the motive, the point is that the government that the flag represents, doesn't have the right to tell you not to do it. In fact, you want to protect that right beyond reproach because pushing dissension underground just makes it more dangerous and effective.

So stop pretending that the flag is Holy, or sacred, or has some magical power. It doesn't. It's a symbol. And just like all symbols, it is ultimately meaningless unless you give it more power than it has earned.
