This really hurts my brain.

...and it's not just one or two people that can't do math as some kind of fluke, but several people who are just the proud bearers of a breathtaking level of idiocy.

I mean, jesus, I've been using computers for so long that I have to grab a pocket calculator to reliably multiply two three-digit numbers (and even for two-digit numbers that aren't a power of two of some sort) but I have to wonder if Verizon isn't getting some kind of tax credit for hiring large numbers of the mentally disable to work customer service.

For that matter, I have been given to understand that the genuinely helmet-wearing mentally handicapped should be able to solve this simple math problem correctly.

Yep. I saw this as well, and basically, I am astonished that that many people can't manage a problem that would be the sort of thing you'd give a third grade student as a math problem for their unit conversion homework.

I can't understand why they don't recognize the difference in units. You can't start an equation with one unit measure and magically turn it into another one at the end (without putting in an equivalency unit to accurately change the place value.) There's 'no opinion' involved with basic math - it is accurate or it isn't.

Glad these people are not nurses - a G instead of a mg could kill someone.
