The Nonwar War Against Iran
by possibly noteworthy at 6:36 am EST, Jan 25, 2007

US officials say that multiple inter-agency meetings on Iran are going on every day under the auspices of the Iran-Syria Policy and Operations Group, and that the pace of activity has quickened. "There are so many meetings; we're doing stuff, writing papers; actions are being taken," said one person involved with the group. "It's very intense."

Speaking of intense, have you seen Breaking The Waves?

I read some of the Amazon reviews. Is it really as depressing as they make it out to be? Sounds like a great movie, I've just had my fill of movies that leave me low lately, might want to wait a few months until spring to watch this one if it's a downer.

I highly recommend the film, but it sounds like maybe you should wait.

Many people would call the film depressing; I would simply characterize it as quite likely the most intense film I've seen.

You can literally feel the Waves crashing down upon you, relentlessly, one after another after another.

I found it easier to take in doses, on DVD, with ready access to the pause button. There are long, almost intermission-like spaces between the chapters in the story, during which one hears nearly the only music in the film. But in practice they are not long enough. In talking to people who saw the film in theatrical release -- unable to pause it for a few minutes to breathe deeply and regain composure, ready to confront the next chapter -- it is especially rough going.

As a safety valve, you might want to pre-load a few pages of Cute Overload!, just in case.
