Drill sergeant who posed nude discharged - Yahoo! News
by Mike the Usurper at 8:44 pm EST, Feb 14, 2007

Manhart, who appeared in a six-page spread in Playboy's February issue, said she got word Friday that she was removed from "extended active duty" and was also told that she was demoted in rank from staff sergeant to senior airman.

Language specialists? Oh, you're gay? Tossed. Drill Sergeant? In Playboy? See ya. I can't decide between "ridiculous" and "stupid" as the best way to descibe what W has done to the military. "Don't ask, don't tell," wasn't a very good policy, but the way things are going now bears more resemblance to "one party, one volk," than I care for. If what you do on your off time is legal, then the government should follow the gamers code, STFU.

The thing that got her in trouble was that she also posed in her uniform. It has been a no-no for many years to do anything outside of official duties in your uniform. Heck, you're not supposed to wear your uniform while riding a commercial airliner on the way to report for duty. It's pretty clear cut. If you're in uniform, you are considered on duty, and standing out as a representative of the U.S. military. If she had done the shoot without wearing the uniform at any point, she'd been fine.

Oh, and I think this came up before when a cop from a department with similar rules posed in uniform a few years ago.

I'd salute her. Twice. ;-)
