Newly discovered snapshots donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum provide a stunning counterpoint to what up until now has been the only major source of preliberation Auschwitz photos.

I don't get it - it is just a bunch of Nazi everyday photos to me. OF course the perpetrators were human - and they were convinced they were right.

2 nights ago I heard a self-described American Patriot say that every time a Middle Eastern Muslim died, that America was a safer place. I heard people clapping when a student asking questions was arrested and tasered.

What I need a reminder of is how GOOD people can be, how fair, and how tolerant and helpful.

the news won't give you that
it's what friends and family does
the small acts of tolerance and love and kindness are the butterfly wings of history (see Wim Wenders' Wings of Desire and the angels describing small acts missed by the global lenses)
