Is possibly noteworthy possibly a bot?
by flynn23 at 11:31 am EDT, Jun 13, 2008

Um, I would venture to guess that 90% of the articles on Memestreams are generated by this user. If this is indeed a human, I'd like to know what they do for a living, other than read articles online and post them on Memestreams. I check the site almost daily and there's absolutely no way I could ever read the amount of material generated by this user. Much less absorb it, comment on it, and pontificate about it. What's up?

I always assumed he was a grad student.

Either the most prolific grad student ever, or possibly the single greatest purveyor of procrastination known to man.

I figured it was his job to read esoteric crap. :D

Bahahaha...this is an awesome thread. Jeremy is WAY more productive than 5 grad students put together...he puts us all to shame with his brilliance:)

He is actually a real person. I have photographic proof:

From left to right: Noteworthy, Rattle, Decius

When Decius and I started coding MemeStreams in 2001 it was based on discussions Jeremy and Tom were having about reputation systems and the Internet between 1997 and 1998.

We have no explanation for his super human information scouring skills. We just watch upon it and marvel.

actually the comment is from flynn23 i just recommended what he said because it amused me so technically mine was a redundant post -- i thought he was human yet with strange super powers -- more peter parker than hal -- maybe he was cut a cpu one day and ....

Yeah, I figured he was a night watchman, or something. It is interesting that many posts are within 60 seconds, of each other... but maybe he's reading/posting off-line.

I also wondered what the connection was between "noteworthy" and "possibly noteworthy."

In any case, the signal-to-noise ratio for me is poor enough that I have my RSS reader kicking his posts. I don't think that's noteworthy's fault, necessarily. That's more a matter of MemeStreams not noticing articles I *don't* want to read.

There is a redundant post from CypherGhost not displayed in this view.
