I have had this happen before with the very laptop I am typing on right now.

Key thing to always remember with liquid and electronics. When they meet, make the power goes away ASAP and don't try to power it up till you are _sure_ all the liquid has been cleaned out. There isn't really anything in the average laptop that will immediately be damaged by moisture.. Keyboard switch membrane stuff is badly effected by anything acidic, but if you clean it fast, its all good. But if its turned on, its a different story. When you spill something on your laptop, with no delay, pull out the battery and the power cord. Then have one of those several hour sessions disassembling the machine and cleaning it out.. Most of the time you will be able to get everything working perfectly, and your keyboard will work better when you are done.. :)

I have _drenched_ this machine with coffee accidentally before.. Orange soda too. As in, most of it going right in the keyboard, and working its way thru the entire machine. And both coffee and soda are way worse then water. The orange soda was the worst, because it was very sticky once it started to dry and extremely hard to clean off the circut boards.

Whenever I disassemble a laptop, I always manage to wind up with extra screws.. :)
