Another face of the circadian clock
Topic: Science 12:53 am EDT, Sep 11, 2002

Circadian clocks are the internal clocks used by all life to distinguish between day and night processes. For example, plant flowering is controlled by a circadian clock.

Researchers in Wisconsin have examined Arabidopsis knockouts (plants without a particular gene) for the ELF4 gene, and have determined that this gene is responsible for preventing early flowering in plants that don't get enough sun.
