Clear Channel buys Concert Recording Patent

Clear Channel, sensing blood in the water, has bought the patent for Concert Recording from DiscLive. This patent in and of itself is interesting since it apparently shows no acknoledgement of prior art, of which there are literally thousands of examples.

Manditory inflamitory quote from ClearChannel:

] "We want to be artist-friendly," says Steve Simon, a Clear Channel executive vice president and the director of Instant Live. "But it is a business, and it's not going to be 'we have the patent, now everybody can use it for free.'"

I was just beginning to think that there was something worth buying in music, but this may spell the end to bootlegs, proving once again that they aren't happy until you're paying for every step you make.
