Boing Boing: If The Ten Commandments was a Teen Comedy
Topic: Miscellaneous 2:19 pm EDT, May 21, 2006

"Ten Things I Hate About Commandments" is a mash-up trailer for a John Hughes style teen comedy, using footage from the Charlton Heston version of The Ten Commandments. It's masterfully done, and milk-out-the-nose funny.

It really is. I love that this kind of stuff is possible.

CNN: Parents don't see a crisis over science and math

Holy shit....I am speechless

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Science and math have zoomed to the top of the nation's education agenda. Yet Amanda Cook, a parent of two school-age girls, can't quite see the urgency.

"In Maine, there aren't many jobs that scream out 'math and science,"' said Cook, who lives in Etna, in the central part of the state. Yes, both topics are important, but "most parents are saying you're better off going to school for something there's a big need for."

Nationwide, a new poll shows, many parents are content with the science and math education their children get -- a starkly different view than that held by national leaders.

Fifty-seven percent of parents say "things are fine" with the amount of math and science being taught in their child's public school. High school parents seem particularly content -- 70 percent say their child gets the right amount of science and math.

Oh. My. God. I think I've just had a stroke and heart attack.

-janelane, WTF??!!

For only $299.00 you will have an hour flight in a Piper Cherokee Six designed exclusively for this purpose. Also included is a bottle of champagne and you get to keep your sheets as a souvenir of this special event. The countryside out this way is beautiful, especially if you schedule a trip around sunset. Our pilot is VERY discreet and all flights are handled with the UTMOST confidentuality. West Georgia Regional is a relatively "quiet" airport with little traffic, so getting in and out very discreetly is no problem at all.

Notice how *tiny* this plane is, and picture the pilot laughing as the plane is rocking back and forth. Best part, "you get to keep the sheets."

Shatner kidney stone goes for $25,000
Topic: Current Events 12:19 pm EST, Jan 22, 2006

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- An online casino has a piece of Capt. Kirk.

Actor William Shatner has sold his kidney stone for $25,000, with the money going to Habitat for Humanity.

"This would be the first Habitat for Humanity house built out of stone," joked Darren Julien, president of Los Angeles-based Julien's Auctions, which handled the sale.

Shatner, who played Kirk on the original "Star Trek" TV show and won an Emmy for his role on "Boston Legal," passed the stone last fall.

The stone was so big, Shatner said, "you'd want to wear it on your finger."

"If you subjected it to extreme heat, it might turn out to be a diamond," he added.

Awesome. And gross.

This has to be the weirdest marketing ploy from Burger King yet. The pictures have already been circulating the net, but this is the first time I've seen actual video.

Yes! THE KING fucking rules, with that creepy plastic face and that totally awesome robe. BK's got some advertising geniuses on their hands.

Also, Brooke Burke is hot to the 10th power.
