Actually, Georgia State law requires that state residents be allowed 2 free credit reports per year. Of course, those freebies include neither the all-powerful credit score nor are they for your choice of credit union.

www.consumerinfo.com is my first choice for reports. The rest tend to bog you down in supposedly free services that have all kinds of sticky strings and attachments. You can get a report online for free or have it mailed to you, and I believe the score is an additional $10 either way.

Several other states have free credit report mandates, though Georgia's is [surprisingly] one of the more liberal.
