 ] But you see, that's what I love about him... he's flying in
 ] the face of conventional wisdom. Everything he does pisses off
 ] somebody. And I like that. That's how he got started in this

 Perhaps.  But I still think he's skin deep.  Sure - controversy sells records.  Madonna will be the first to tell you that and she's been at it for 20 years.  I guess some people are entertained by this guys antics (shrug), but ANYONE can go out and just piss people off.  Its not that tough - Andrew Dice Clay?  Where is he these days?  The whole bit of "piss off everyone and take no prisoners" wears thin after a while.  And longevity in the rap/hip-hop world is pretty much unheard of - your big for a few years tops and then forgotten.  so strike while the irons hot eminem - while some people are still amused.
