Memestreams users on FriendFeed?

Interesting article describing a talk given by "Peter Tippett-- who is vice president of risk intelligence for Verizon Business, chief scientist at ICSA Labs, and the inventor of the program that became Norton AntiVirus -- said that about one third of today's security practices are based on outmoded or outdated concepts that don't apply to today's computing environments."

Tippet uses several analogies concerning outdate vuln research and disclosure and the discarding of hackable technologies. On the surface this sounds good but I'm curious to hear the opinion of some of the security professionals in Memestreams.

Is he entirely off base? Does he make some valid points? Are his analogies far fetched?

I'd love to hear what you think.

I'd second the nomination. As cliche as this sounds, reading "On the Road" was a life changing moment in my life. It inspired me to discover an entire legion of beat poets and folk music. Let me add my recommendation for reading Dharma Bums to anyone who enjoyed OTR.

50 years after On the Road

This is actually for a home to support 4 clients. I've used Linksys for years and love them but I'm just curious as to what else is worth looking at.

I normally run WPA2 PSK AES or WPA2 Radius. I'm mostly concerned with stability, coverage, and longevity. I also love the multiple SSID's with HP/Cisco's but I can't justify the cash to put one in my home.

I've also played with 3rd party firmware's with linksys products but decided to play it safe. I appreciate the continued input.

RE: AP Recommendations?

Simply put I want your recommendations for Access Points.

I need to replace my AP and I'm wanting to explore some different options. I figured Memestreams would be a good place to get informed advice. I've got plenty of experience with the enterprise class HP's and Cisco APs as well as the SOHO market usual suspects...Linksys, Dlink, and Netgears but I want your recommendations.

Their are a ton of vendors from Buffalo to Aruba and I'd like to know what you think.

This is one of the funniest posts I've ever read. The blogger at fthe.net was given the task of hiring a security guy. The job was posted on some online sites and the resume deluge began. After seeing the results he decided to write an open letter to the applicants. In his words "turns out I hate everyone".
