"Success is doing ordinary things extraordinarily well."

Who is Jonathan Ive and what kind of car does he drive
Topic: Technology 4:10 pm EST, Dec 30, 2003

] Friends say the roots of his success lie in his lateral
] thinking - finding the true appeal of an object, often
] ignoring the traditional approach to design. Inspiration
] comes from almost anywhere. The original candy-coloured
] iMac had its roots in gumdrops. The popular transparent
] Apple mouse came from thinking about how drops of water
] sit on a flat surface. An angle-poise desk lamp helped
] inspire the new iMac. The see-through outer casing of
] recent iBooks came from the look that food has when
] wrapped in clingfilm. The iPod is like a cigarette pack
] for those addicted to music instead of tobacco.

] WASHINGTON - The FBI is warning police nationwide to be
] alert for people carrying almanacs, cautioning that the

]

] "to assist with target selection and pre-operational
] planning."
]
] It urged officers to watch during searches, traffic stops
] and other investigations for anyone carrying almanacs,
] especially if the books are annotated in suspicious ways

Better not carry an Almanac in your car or you will go to federal prision. Almanacs are evil!!!!!

iBook screen problems: Injured wires, logic board failure
Topic: Computers 1:36 pm EST, Dec 30, 2003

There is an issue with several iBook units involving failing displays that we first reported on in-depth in mid-March and April of this year. Since those initial postings, Apple's discussion boards and MacFixIt's forums have been inundated with similar reports, leading to the notion that there may be a serious design flaw in Apple's dual-USB iBooks.

The problem most users are experiencing is a design flaw at the hinge to the display. Apparently there isn't enough room for the wires to pass through and handle the friction they receive by opening and closing the lid.

Sound like your issue?

Software used by an electronic voting system manufactured by Sequoia Voting Systems has been left unprotected on a publicly available server, raising concerns about the possibility of vote tampering in future elections.

The software, made available at ftp.jaguar.net, is stored on an FTP server owned by Jaguar Computer Systems, a firm that provides election support to a California county. The software is used for placing ballots on voting kiosks and for storing and tabulating results for the Sequoia AVC Edge touch-screen system.
