Follow up: How not to drive a Ferrari

http://www.wsbtv.com/sports/2520166/detail.html

Sept 3:
"The car hit a wall at about 80 mph before the men were ejected from the vehicle."

Oct 6:
"Atlanta Thrashers forward Dan Snyder died Sunday night in an Atlanta hospital because of head trauma. Snyder was 25 years old."

Oct 13:
"Because Heatley wasn't drunk and Snyder's relatives say they forgive him, prosecutors may decide the car crash was just an accident, with no need to pursue felony charges and sentences ranging from three to 15 years."

Isn't driving 45 miles over the speed limit enough to at least warrant a _look_ into suspending his license? And what if the next victim's family isn't so "forgiving" about losing a son/brother/grandson?

There's a reason sports celebrities act like they can get away with anything...it's called precedence.

His license is suspended and he's under probation. What more do you want? We don't even prosecute repeat DUI offenders after they brutally run down pregnant women. There are such things as ACCIDENTS. It doesn't require people get sued or go to jail. It's exactly that mentality that's eroding the foundations of this society.

Holding people accountable for their actions certainly doesn't erode the foundation of a society. Yes there are such things as accidents, and sometimes accidents result in someone getting dead. IMHO The difference between an accident and an offense are decisions you make.

Heatly chose to drink, he then chose to drive at nearly double the speed limit, and thus he chose to put himself and others in an unreasonable state of risk. He should be held accountable for any injuries he caused. Period.

It is called oversteer... excessive speed, hard breaking, momentum is forward, front of the car goes down as the weight transfers, back of the car goes up at the same time, rear traction is compromised, novice drive has begun slight early turn in, back wheels kick out... JESUS GOD!

Oversteer.

One of the reasons why a race version of that car would have a BIG FUCKING SPOILER... downforce is teh good. As well as a very strong roll cage.

Probably the easiest way for a novice driver to eat shit driving a mid engine rear-wheel-drive super car with RAW DOG TORQUE and incredible brakes that will stop you on a dime... or propel you sideways into a wall. Haven't you people played Gran Turismo? ;)

Whoever drove that car on that track like that was a tool, but the mistake was an easy one to make. Autocross would have been a more appropriate choice... no walls to hit.

but look at the tire tracks. it's most definitely not oversteer. it looks like after cresting the hill, this person just turned into the corner too early and slid into the embankment. idiot.

The tire tracks indicate oversteer to me... what am I missing? Looks like the right most track is the rear wheel, and the car turned approximately straight as it hit the grass...
