I take it you already know Of tough and bough and cough and dough? Others may stumble, but not you, On hiccough, thorough, lough and through? Well done! And now you wish, perhaps, To learn of less familiar traps? Beware of heard, a dreadful word That looks like beard and sounds like bird, And dead: it's said like bed, not bead - For goodness sake don't call it deed!

After having given it some thought, this is my #1 favorite of the SuperBowl commercials this year. Though I also liked the Coca Cola GTA and Happiness Factory commercials, and was in awe of the F-Series Super Duty graphics, this little mouse commercial still makes me laugh out loud every time. ;) Elonka :) Super Bowl Ads: Blockbuster Mouse |

We investigate the efficacy of three aluminum helmet designs on a sample group of four individuals. Using a $250,000 network analyser, we find that although on average all helmets attenuate invasive radio frequencies in either directions (either emanating from an outside source, or emanating from the cranium of the subject), certain frequencies are in fact greatly amplified. These amplified frequencies coincide with radio bands reserved for government use according to the Federal Communication Commission (FCC). Statistical evidence suggests the use of helmets may in fact enhance the government's invasive abilities. We speculate that the government may in fact have started the helmet craze for this reason.

Original ragdoll animation by Pekka, http://pekkasandborg.com; subsequent modification into Bush Freefall by an unknown Flash animation guru Drag the little ragdoll if he gets stuck. And speed up or slow down gravity with your left/right arrow keys.
Political statement aside, this is a very cute use of mathematics and Flash. Bush in Freefall |

For fans of "The Family Guy", an interactive app by one of my game industry associates, with the ever (not) charming "Stewie". I was testing this earlier today, and there's a *lot* of stuff buried in there. Type in a word or phrase, and see how the character reacts. "Hello," "sleep", etc. Fun terms to type in: Lotion, hacker, porn, world domination. And every so often, something unusual like the "kill" button might become active... Elonka :) Stewie Live |

SEX is the official abbreviation of sodium ethyl xanthate, which is a flotation agent used in the mining industry. Apparently you can get SEX in both solid and liquid forms . . .
Lots of other fun ones on this page, too. Such as: Dickite Moronic Acid Cummingtonite Phthalic Acid (Thanks to BillyGoto for the link to this one!) Molecules with Silly or Unusual Names |

Intelligent Design v. Flying Spaghetti Monster-ism |

If "Intelligent Design" should be taught in our schools, side by side with the "unproven theory" of evolution, then it logically follows that other theories should be presented as well . . . :) Let us remember that there are multiple theories of Intelligent Design. I and many others around the world are of the strong belief that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. It was He who created all that we see and all that we feel. We feel strongly that the overwhelming scientific evidence pointing towards evolutionary processes is nothing but a coincidence, put in place by Him.
The above quote was sent in an open letter to the Kansas School Board. The webpage is worth a read, not just for the letter and theory (complete with scientific charts and a drawing of the Almighty FSM), but it also includes links to response letters from members of the school board, along with endorsements from many people throughout the scientific community. ;) Intelligent Design v.
