In their cardboard version of realpolitik George Bush's "Axis of Evil" is reduced to a spinner in the middle of the board, which determines which player is designated a terrorist state. That person then has to wear a balaclava (included in the box set) with the word "Evil" stitched on to it. Kent police said they had confiscated the game because the balaclava "could be used to conceal someone's identity or could be used in the course of a criminal act".

According to a report from GamePolitics, the judge who presided over Miami lawyer Jack Thompson's Bar trial has recommended to the Florida Supreme Court that he be found guilty on 27 of 31 charges of professional misconduct.
I think my phrase for this one is...

LINDEN LAB, hallowed creator of the Second Life virtual world, has announced that all in-world casinos and miscellaneous gambling joints are herewith to be shut down.
Saw this one coming and think I linked it about 8 months ago? Next question, there are games out there that have gambling but don't have the direct conversion of $ to in game $, so how will that be viewed? Second Life shuts down casinos |

FBI investigators have visited Second Life's Internet casinos at the invitation of the virtual world's creator Linden Lab, but the U.S. government has not decided on the legality of virtual gambling. .... Most lawyers agree that placing bets with Linden dollars likely violates U.S. anti-gambling statutes, which cover circumstances in which "something of value" is wagered. But the degree of Linden Lab's responsibility, and the likelihood of a any crackdown, is uncertain.
I think I sort of predicted this one, see my note about the SAFE Act from 3/12/07. Research by security firm Symantec suggests that the raw value of a WoW account is now higher than a credit card and its associated verification data. One card can be sold for up to $6 (�3) suggests Symantec, but a WoW account will be worth at least $10. An account that has several high level characters associated with it could be worth far more as the gold and rare items can be sold for real cash.

This is pretty curious. It presents some challenges for online games like WoW (sort of), EQ2 (station exchange has some issues here) and Second Life is really hurting on this, but their exposure may be limited because they expressly say the content is owned by the in game creator of it. I detect some extreme messiness coming out of this one, above and beyond the actual poker places... (Because of the way the Library of Congress handles links, the link here goes to the level above the text of the bill. Dutch bank ABN AMRO NV became the latest enterprise to tap into the growing popularity of Second Life, by opening a branch on Friday inside the Internet-based virtual world. ABN AMRO, the Netherlands’ biggest bank, said it will create a virtual bank resembling ABN’s real-life outlets, offering financial advice.
