Topic: Elections 2:45 am EDT, Oct 20, 2008

The owner of a firm that the California Republican Party hired to register tens of thousands of voters this year was arrested in Ontario over the weekend on suspicion of voter registration fraud.

Yes Virginia, there is voter fraud, it's just that it is being committed by the people who keep screaming "VOTER FRAUD!"

Paddy Power PLC says it is so sure Barack Obama will win the U.S. presidential election next month that it paid off Thursday on all bets it had taken backing the Democratic candidate. It said it shelled out more than euro1 million, about $1.35 million.

Well they think it's over, and are paying the money.

Pro-War Group Offering Cash For Frats To Demonstrate At VP Debate
Topic: Elections 6:05 pm EDT, Oct  1, 2008

In an email obtained by the Huffington Post, Vets for Freedom field staffer Laura Meyer offered a fraternity at St. Louis University a "sizable donation" - plus free lunch - if it could use their pledges to demonstrate outside the VP debate.

I'm not even sure what to say about this one. That's just.... screwed up.

Wal-Mart Warns of Democratic Win - WSJ.com
Topic: Elections 12:31 pm EDT, Aug  1, 2008

"The meeting leader said, 'I am not telling you how to vote, but if the Democrats win, this bill will pass and you won't have a vote on whether you want a union,'" said a Wal-Mart customer-service supervisor from Missouri. "I am not a stupid person. They were telling me how to vote," she said.

It never ceases to amaze me. Vote for us or you'll lose your job.

Let's hear it for blackmail! Wal-Mart joins AT&T on the list of companies that will never get another dime.

and an update... So I mention this to Elonka, and her response is, "Well this is normal. This happens all the time." No, it doesn't. Different groups endorse different people all the time, yes. They do NOT tell their people how to vote. There is a big difference between telling people who you think would be better (and I have a few endorsements now) and telling people vote this way or you'll lose your job.

When Exxon makes over $11 billion in one quarter and companies like Wal-Mart are outsourcing where they get their products from as fast as humanly possible, I don't give a damn about them. I do give a damn about the people who have jobs there because their company is screwing them over. Their boards are lining their pockets, building no loyalty within even their own employees because they treat them like crap. Hey Wal-Mart, want to know the best way to get your employees not to unionize? Treat them and pay them responsibly.

Sister Julie McGuire said she was forced to turn away her fellow members of St. Mary's Convent in South Bend, across the street from the University of Notre Dame, because they had been told earlier that they would need such an ID to vote.

That's right. NUNS!

Voter fraud my ass. This is voter suppression, and election fraud.

The Raw Story | Huckabee: Amend Constitution to be in 'God's standards'
Topic: Elections 5:22 pm EST, Jan 15, 2008

"But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."

That BOOM! sound you just heard were the odds on Huckabee winning in November. Primary? Who knows. General election? Goooood luck!

Ex-Justice official accused of aiding scheme to scratch minority voters
Topic: Elections 2:52 pm EDT, Jun 25, 2007

Republicans’ use of caging has been a contentious issue ever since Debevoise’s ruling 26 years ago. In 1986, the judge found that Louisiana Republicans had violated the consent decree. In 1990, another consent decree was issued after the Republican Party of North Carolina and the re-election campaign of Republican Sen. Jesse Helms sent 125,000 postcards to mostly black voters to compile a list of voters to challenge.

Part of RICO means showing that the actions are longstanding and deliberate. Does 26 years worth of longstanding and deliberate work?
