And part of that calls on American journalism to get over reporting the Bush administration as though it were a credible source. We need to face facts.

It seems to me that whatever the limits put on her, the problems facing her inside and outside the newsroom will make it difficult for her to return to the paper as a reporter.
My interpretation? "See ya Judy. Try to not let the door hit you in the ass on the way out." The Miller Mess: Lingering Issues Among the Answers - New York Times |

Other versions in Indiana, North Carolina and California, drop the final graf, but the impression to most local readers is that this is the voice of their local newspaper. Actually, it's a corporate voice, Freedom Communications Inc, and was written by a former Bush I staffer and conservative scribe now the editorial page editor of the Freedom-owned Colorado Springs Gazette.
So was this done on his own or is this yet another of those positions taken "for hire?" Michelle Pilecki: 'Editorials' a Chorus of One |

I wish we had dealt with the controversy over our coverage of WMD as soon as I became executive editor. At the time, we thought we had compelling reasons for kicking the issue down the road. The paper had just been through a major trauma, the Jayson Blair episode, and needed to regain its equilibrium. It felt somehow unsavory to begin a tenure by attacking our predecessors. I was trying to get my arms around a huge new job, appoint my team, get the paper fully back to normal, and I feared the WMD issue could become a crippling distraction.

As it is, all he has done so far is send Judith Miller of the New York Times to jail and repeatedly haul this or that administration high official before a grand jury, investigating a crime that probably wasn't one in the first place but that now, as is often the case, might have metastasized into some sort of coverup -- but, again, of nothing much. Go home, Pat.
What an assclown. These morons did direct harm to national security, but that's ok because it was just a political dirty trick? Let This Leak Go |
