] A joint Australian- New Zealand research voyage carrying
] leading Australian, New Zealand and other international
] scientists to explore deep sea habitats and biodiversity
] in the Tasman Sea is expected to uncover new marine
] species and habitats. The NORFANZ research voyage will
] explore deep sea habitats around seamounts and abyssal
] plains around Lord Howe and Norfolk Islands through to
] northern New Zealand .

] introduced its 1100 series capillary LC system, featuring
] tiny tubes that could pump nanoliter volumes through
] columns with high accuracy. Now the company is following
] that up with a microfraction collection system for single
] or multidimensional separation of protein and peptide

] The networks were etched on to 15 centimetre-wide silicon
] wafers and the paths were then used as a mould to set a
] layer of biodegradable polymer. Two of these were then
] sealed together with a microporous membrane sandwiched
] between them, producing a mini artificial vascular
] system.

] Endothelial cells - which are flat cells lining the walls
] of blood vessels in a single layer - were injected into
] the network on one side of the membrane and either liver
] or kidney cells were injected on the other side. The
] endothelial cells coated the inside of the polymer
] nanotubes. These nanotubes biodegraded to leave a living
] shell of vessels similar to a natural vascular network.
] This method would provide an efficient means of supplying
] the liver or kidney cells with enough oxygen and
] nutrients to survive.

SARS outbreak contained worldwide

] Organization is removing Taiwan, China, from the list of
] areas with recent local transmission of severe acute
] respiratory syndrome (SARS). Taiwan is the last area to
] be removed from the list. It has been 20 days, or two
] consecutive 10-day incubation periods, since the last
] case on June 15. Based on country surveillance reports,
] the human chains of SARS virus transmission appear to
] have been broken everywhere in the world.

wow....you have to go check out the pictures of the anti-sars ambassadors on this website. They even have a torch with a big S on it.....S is for SARS! I so want to go to Lennox mall and walk around as an anti-sars ambassador!
