Have I told you today that there is a war killing people in Iraq as well?
Topic: Current Events 7:01 am EST, Nov 22, 2007

Just a friendly reminder that we should, on this day of thanks giving, give thanks to whatever god or gods you may have that your ass isn't over there. And if it is, I pray for you.

Have I told you today that there is a war killing people in Iraq as well?

Have I told you today that we have soldiers dying overseas?
Topic: Current Events 5:51 am EST, Nov 20, 2007

Just in case someone forgets. More old news but good news. Remember 1984 is just around the corner.

Have I told you today that we have soldiers dying overseas?

Voting Computers -- A Cautionary Tale
Topic: Current Events 12:15 pm EST, Nov  4, 2006

I am not one to panic, or to say "I told you so", but damn, this is scary. If you vote, if you hope to some day be able to vote, if you think Shelly was right, if you breath, you need to examine this email and WAKE UP!

This came to me in email from someone I know and she just got this in her department at a University in Kentucky. I don't have permission to post this but think it is important and should be gotten out so, if your voting with computers be careful, and if your voting with computers in Kentucky be especially so.

Subject : FW: Voting Computers -- A Cautionary Tale

I voted today because I'm heading out of state soon, and I wanted to tell you about my experience with computerized voting. I tried to vote a straight ticket (something I have never done before but I'm thoroughly pissed off, so, as Rumsfeld would say, "Back off"), but when I checked the final page, which summarizes one's vote, I noticed that I had voted for some of the candidates of the other party. I went to the first screen again and ticked the straight ticket box for the Democratic party, and, again, I found that for all of the contested races the Republican boxes were ticked. I had to go through individually to tick the Democratic boxes.

No, xxxxxxx, I'm not a Democrat, and I don't suspect vast right-wing some conspiracy, although xxxxxx does. I'm just telling those of you who will be voting soon to check the summarizing page carefully, regardless of your voting preferences.

And, no, xxxxx, the machines don't have a yellow reset button on the back so that you can vote many times.

Peace,
xxxxxx
