Kaczynski’s Lincoln-area property for sale | | Great Falls Tribune
Topic: Recreation 9:44 pm EST, Dec  6, 2010

HELENA — A 1.4-acre parcel of land in western Montana that was once owned by Unabomber Ted Kaczynski is on the market for $69,500.

The property is listed by John Pistelak Realty of Lincoln. Pistelak said he was in a meeting Friday morning and couldn’t immediately comment.

The listing offers potential buyers a chance to own a piece of “infamous U.S. history” and says the forested land “is obvi-ously very secluded.”

The Lincoln-area property, which had been listed at $154,500, does not have electricity or running water. Kaczynski was critical of technology.

The property does not include Kaczynski’s cabin. It is on display in the Newseum in Washington, D.C.

Kaczynski is serving a life sentence for a series of mail bombings over 17 years that killed three and injured 23.

Someone needs to develop this into a terrorist theme-park... or at least a wax museum.

Well, today was the day
Topic: Recreation 10:35 pm EDT, Oct 19, 2010

My name is Michael Roberts, and I am a pilot for ExpressJet Airlines, Inc., based in Houston (that is, I still am for the time being). This morning as I attempted to pass through the security line for my commute to work I was denied access to the secured area of the terminal building at Memphis International Airport. I have passed through the same line roughly once per week for the past four and a half years without incident. Today, however, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents at this checkpoint were using one of the new Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT) systems that are currently being deployed at airports across the nation. These are the controversial devices featured by the media in recent months, albeit sparingly, which enable screeners to see beneath people’s clothing to an extremely graphic and intrusive level of detail (virtual strip searching). Travelers refusing this indignity may instead be physically frisked by a government security agent until the agent is satisfied to release them on their way in what is being touted as an “alternative option” to AIT. The following is a somewhat hastily drafted account of my experience this morning.

Researchers publish comprehensive study on sexual behavior and health of Americans ages 14-94
Topic: Recreation 2:01 am EDT, Oct  5, 2010

About 85 percent of men reported that their partner had an orgasm during their most recent sexual encounter, but only 64 percent of women report having had one. Researchers said the difference is too great to attribute to men having had their last encounter with another man.

Eight percent of men and 7 percent of women identify as gay, lesbian or bisexual, but a much higher percentage report engaging in sexual activity with someone of the same sex at least once. The study found that 15 percent of men aged 50-59 have received oral sex from another man at some point.

Nick Newcomen did a road trip over 30 days that covered stretches from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean. First, he identified on a map the route he would need to drive to spell out the message. He put a GPS device in his car to trace the route he would follow. Then, he hit the road.

"It's going to be a futuristic, state-of-the-art motel with every modern convenience from water beds to 8-tracks. The entire dining area will be covered in deep-pile pink and purple carpet. But wait - here's the best part. It will look like an abstract sculpture of a giant turkey. We'll bill it as a romantic getaway - and call it The Gobbler!"

The Luxury Spot » FEATURES » I Got Vajazzled (and had a camera crew)
Topic: Recreation 12:43 pm EST, Mar 10, 2010

A few weeks ago we wrote a post on Vajazzling, a relatively new concept in vaginal adornment. It’s exactly what it sounds like- bedazzling for your vajayjay. The trend exploded when Jennifer Love Hewitt announced that she Vajazzles regularly to feel good about her privates. It took mere minutes for bloggers to go wild in pursuit of real Vajazzling pics. Alas, there were none to be found on Google. Until the lovely team at Spa Week Daily called me up and said “Bryce, we know you’re at the forefront of Vajazzling… you’re basically the authority on the subject, any chance we can send you down to Completely Bare Spa in NYC to actually get it done?”null

I want to see the infomercial.

E-mails from an Asshole
Topic: Recreation 8:50 pm EDT, Jul 11, 2009

This is a collection of e-mails I have sent to people who post classified ads.

My goal is to mess with them, confuse them, and/or piss them off.

These are the ones that succeeded.

Richard Hamming:

If you do not work on an important problem, it's unlikely you'll do important work.

Samantha Power:

There are great benefits to connectedness, but we haven't wrapped our minds around the costs.

Trapped in an Elevator: Online Only Video: The New Yorker

This week in the magazine, Nick Paumgarten writes about the lives of elevators, and tells the story of Nicholas White, who was trapped in an elevator in New York City’s McGraw-Hill building for forty-one hours. Here is a condensed look at White’s ordeal, as captured by the building’s security cameras.

The video is interesting. Looks like he managed to hold it in all that time.
