"I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ" --Gandhi

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -Theodore Roosevelt

"A little revolution, now and then, is a good thing." -Thomas Jefferson-

"In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from John F. Kennedy to Al Gore. If this is evolution, I believe that in 12 years, we'll be voting for plants." -Lewis Black-

"When you're born in the world you're given a ticket to the freakshow; when you're born in America you're given a front-row seat. And some of us in the front row have notebooks and pencils." -George Carlin

When division personnel staff later compared the remaining interviewees with the candidates struck form the list, one common denominator appeared repeatedly: most of those struck form the list had interned for a Hill Democrat, clerked for a Democratic judge, worked for a "liberal" cause, or otherwise appeared to have "liberal" leanings. Summa cum laude graduates of both Yale and Harvard were rejected for interviews.

Wow. Gasoline on the bonfire? This one is more like napalm...

CQ Today - Renzi's Business, Doolittle's House Searched; GOP Responds Quickly
Topic: Politics and Law 4:12 pm EDT, Apr 20, 2007

The Republicans moved quickly to evict John T. Doolittle of California, a former member of the House leadership, from the Appropriations Committee on Thursday, less than 24 hours after revelations that the FBI had recently raided his home.

Meanwhile, Rep. Rick Renzi, R-Ariz., said in a written statement that he was stepping down from the Intelligence Committee after agents raided a family business in Arizona.

Renzi? Another one? Where's Lewis?

"There are jobs Americans aren't doing. ... If you've got a chicken factory, a chicken-plucking factory, or whatever you call them, you know what I'm talking about."

Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to invoke the other part of the 25th Amendment. You know, the part about mentally...

Remember the rug?

What?

"The best way to put this behind us is your resignation," Sen. Tom Coburn bluntly told Gonzales, one GOP conservative to another.

Fredo? They're ready to take you fishing now.

ABC News: Killer's Note: 'You Caused Me to Do This'
Topic: Politics and Law 4:09 pm EDT, Apr 19, 2007

Some news accounts have suggested that Cho had a history of antidepressant use, but senior federal officials tell ABC News that they can find no record of such medication in the government's files. This does not completely rule out prescription drug use, including samples from a physician, drugs obtained through illegal Internet sources, or a gap in the federal database, but the sources say theirs is a reasonably complete search.

Sometimes things come out when you least expect them. Read this again, "federal officials tell ABC News that they can find no record of such medication in the government's files." I could be wrong, but that sounds an awful lot to me like the government is keeping track of everyone's prescriptions. Now where in the hell did that get green lighted?

FBI Searched Calif. Congressman's Home | The Huffington Post

FBI agents have searched the home of Republican Rep. John Doolittle, who is under scrutiny over his ties to convicted GOP lobbyist Jack Abramoff, Doolittle's attorney said Wednesday.

Wait, another California congressman? But Duke Cunningham is already in jail and this isn't even Jerry Lewis who was getting checked out in the Cunningham deal? How many of these guys are going down?

I think he's a revolutionary, a Trotsky. He's a believer in permanent revolution. So therefore he's very dangerous, because he's an unguided missile, he's a rocket with no ability to be educated.

Sy's take on W, and pretty well spot on.

Of the 1,502 adults survey in February, 69 percent correctly answered Dick Cheney when asked who was the vice president, compared with 74 percent who correctly responded Dan Quayle when the same question was asked in 1989.

So here's what I want to know. 31% don't know Cheney is VP. Are those the same people who still support W?

Abstinence Only - Just Say No Fails Again
Topic: Health and Wellness 11:54 am EDT, Apr 16, 2007

Citing the fact that the Institute of Medicine, the nation’s leading health authority, had called for the elimination of these programs back in 2000, Wagoner said: “Congress must now move to de-fund these programs. Anything short of eliminating these programs would be a dereliction of its duty to promote public health and protect young people in the era of AIDS”.

The final report is out. And it was snuck out the back door. Why? Because abstinence only is total crap. Doesn't work. Doesn't stop kids having sex. Doesn't stop STDs like the super-clap mentioned last week. Doesn't stop AIDS. Doesn't stop pregnancy. Basically it's sort of like slapping a bandaid (regular size) on a severed limb and saying, "see how well this works!"

Abstinence is a good idea, but you can either include the rest of reality with it or you're more useless than tits on a bull.
