www.oreilly.com -- Why Biologists Want to Program Computers
Topic: Miscellaneous 6:10 pm EDT, Oct 23, 2002

"This article will examine why a biologist would want to learn to program. There are two main reasons: scientific, and economic. I hope that the discussion will also be of some use to programmers thinking of entering the bioinformatics field. But first, I'll take a short tour of some history, define some terms, and make some general comments about how programming fits into biology research."

Interesting article written by the guy who wrote my "Beginning Perl for Bioinformatics" O'Reilly book.

Take a course at MIT without all the bother of applications or even getting dressed. I love the fact that MIT is putting course info on the web, and I love even more the fact that they are willing to do this for free. :) Opensource MIT education.....werd.

Is My Blog Hot or Not?
Topic: Miscellaneous 7:42 pm EDT, Oct 10, 2002

Somewhere, deep down inside, I knew this was inevitable. The cross-pollination with Livejournal should be really interesting.

:O)

[/me rubs her eyes. "Is this for real?!?" Ya see, my take on this is that everyone knows that blogs are getting boring, and they know in their hearts that its time to move on to Memestreams forever. Yet, they can't seem to let go of their mundane livejournals. So, they felt they needed to spice up the blog scene alittle. A last ditch effort before blogs self-destruct out of boredom, leaving only Memestreams. MUhahahahahahahahahaha. - Nanochick;)]
