Section 303
Topic: Miscellaneous 12:37 pm EDT, Aug 30, 2002

Nobody has experienced hockey until they have sat in the GEC in section 303. (Unless of course you were there the night that some friends and I started chanting "We want blood" and some hockey player on the other team got pucked in the face)Anyway....its getting to be fall, and I am starting to crave a hockey game again, so this is a meme-must!

The mere image itself screams "This was not done by real aliens" but whoever did it deserves an award for artistry in engineering.

"When Apple unveiled its Mac OS X operating system a couple of years ago, the company's chief executive, Steven P. Jobs, explained that it offered two important benefits. First, Mac OS X (pronounced "ten") rests on a superstable, industrial-strength foundation called Unix. Second, Mac OS X is so beautiful, "you just want to lick it.""

""It's a photo, but it's not like I have a test tube of it," O'Reilly said. "They still have that instant reaction. It makes people think of the paradox of something being beautiful but intellectually horrifying." "

"No one complained two years ago when the University of North Carolina required its incoming freshmen to read a book about the lingering effects of the Civil War, nor last year when it assigned a book about a Hmong immigrant's struggle with epilepsy and American medicine.
But this year, the university in Chapel Hill is asking all 3,500 incoming freshmen to read a book about Islam and finds itself besieged in federal court and across the airwaves by Christian evangelists and other conservatives."

Snakeheads Put Small Maryland Pond on World Map
Topic: Miscellaneous 11:32 am EDT, Aug 19, 2002

This is a continuation of the story on Snakeheads, those fish that can walk on land for days. The article talks about how this fish was introduced into the pond (aKa by a moron), and their plans for killing the fish (sad that they have to do that). Morbidly, it also gives a website (www.snakeheads.org) where you can get recipes for cooking this fish.
