Cool Tools
Topic: Miscellaneous 6:34 pm EDT, May 12, 2005

] A cool tool can be any book, gadget, software, video,
] map, hardware, material, or website that is tried and
] true. I am chiefly interested in stuff that is
] extraordinary, better than similar products,
] little-known, and reliably useful for an individual or
] small group. I depend on friends and readers to suggest
] things they actually use.

Microsoft launches Thought Thieves film competition
Topic: Miscellaneous 8:35 pm EDT, May 10, 2005

] Microsoft has launched the Thought Thieves short film
] competition, inviting film makers aged 14 and over to
] make a movie on the theme of 'How intellectual property
] theft affects both individuals and society'.

] 'The subject of intellectual property theft is often seen
] as legalistic and frankly a bit dull,' said Alex Hilton,
] anti-piracy manager at Microsoft. 'The truth is that
] intellectual property is really about people's creations
] such as software, films, books, music or a fashion line.
] When someone has worked hard on a creation, it's unfair
] to see it stolen from in front of their eyes.'

I read a paper about this topic recently that was very fascinating so I found it interesting when I ran across this.

A question to ponder
Topic: Miscellaneous 2:08 pm EST, Feb  8, 2005

Situation:
you are driving down the road or stopped at a stop light and when you glance around you see a woman sitting alone in her car crying her eyes out.

what is your reaction?

Do you even give it a second thought?

What do you think about?

How does it make you feel?
