On boardwalk, taking shots at Saddam Hussein

] SEASIDE HEIGHTS -- Mike Carbone settled his arm on the
] counter in front of him on the boardwalk. Slowly he
] raised his gun until he had him in his sights -- Saddam
] Hussein.
]
] What's Saddam doing in Seaside Heights? He, or rather
] someone dressed as him, is the timely target of the paint
] ball stand, Lucky Leo's "Shoot the Geek."

I applied for the job of the Geek years ago when I was still in High School.. I didn't get the job. Its a pretty sought after, believe it or not..

] during school hours.

Yes, we must shield students from current events. And we must also wrap them in bubble wrap and never let them leave the bedroom so that they don't ever, ever get hurt!!

KGB: Big, Bad and Back?
Topic: Local Information 4:58 pm EST, Mar 15, 2003

"After the collapse of communism, the KGB was broken up into five separate agencies, but it was not fully disbanded nor was the successor organizations' mode of operation seriously reformed. Now President Vladimir Putin, a former KGB operative, is reassembling the dreaded Soviet secret police.

The president announced that two former KGB agencies, the Federal Border Service and Federal Agency for Government Communications and Information, will be reintegrated with the main KGB successor agency, the FSB."

-----------------------------------------------------------------
From Jello:

Now the FSB regulates elections as well... I think Putin will be president of the RF for life (or close to it), whether he gets an amendment passed to grant him a third term, or not. I actually know some monarchists that prey this happens.

] State Sen. Leonard T. Connors Jr. and Assemblymen Jeffrey

] investigate how someone was able to videotape on the

] being noticed.
]
] In a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Thomas J.
] Ridge, dated Wednesday and made public yesterday, the

] Department of Homeland Security an alarming security
] issue at the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station and
] urge your immediate help to take priority steps to

]
] "The video depicts a vehicle entering the Oyster Creek
] grounds without being confronted by security forces. The
] vehicle drives around the first inner perimeter of the
] plant and up to the loading dock, again without
] challenge. The (News 12 New Jersey) team contends that
] this vehicle, a truck that could carry a large payload of
] explosives, was close enough to do considerable damage to
] the plant if, in fact, this staged event were a real

This does not suprise me in the least.

CNN.com - San Francisco police chief, others indicted in connection with fight - Feb. 28, 2003
Topic: Local Information 9:14 pm EST, Feb 28, 2003

Friday, February 28, 2003 Posted: 5:06 PM EST (2206 GMT)

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Police Chief Earl Sanders and nine other policemen have been indicted in connection with an off-duty fight outside a bar and an alleged attempt to cover it up.

Those indicted Thursday included an assistant chief, his police officer son, and a deputy chief. It was not immediately clear whether Sanders and the others would turn themselves in, or be arrested.

The indictments stem from a November incident in which three off-duty officers allegedly beat two men in front of a bar just after closing time, and from the alleged cover-up that followed.

Sanders and six others each face one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice in the alleged cover-up. The three officers allegedly involved in the brawl face felony assault and battery charges.

Radioactive water leak found at Salem I plant
Topic: Local Information 8:16 pm EST, Feb 11, 2003

] The state is working with the federal Nuclear Regulatory
] Commission and PSEG Nuclear, which runs the plant, to
] investigate the leak of radioactive water, which is
] around a spent-fuel pool building on the site, according
] to a DEP statement.
]
] According to the DEP, the leak was identified when
] elevated levels of radioactive tritium were discovered in
] ground water and reported last week by the NRC, which
] regulates the nuclear power industry. DEP officials
] confirmed ground water contamination in samples analyzed
] yesterday.

From Jessica: Salem 1 started operating in 1977. Oyster Creek went online in '68, I believe. I recommend you move. Now. :) But don't move here... "Millstone Power Station sits on a peninsula on the eastern end of Long Island Sound. The site is 3.2 miles west-southwest of New London, Conn. The station consists of three units: Millstone 1, a 660-megawatt unit, began commercial operation in 1970 and is currently undergoing decommissioning. Millstone 2, an 870-megawatt unit, began commercial operation in 1975, and Millstone 3, an 1,150-megawatt unit, began commercial operation in 1986."

Rattle: Oh yeah, I'm well aware I'm living in what will be called the "Dead Zone" at one point or another.. Only I don't define that area as [blank], or Ocean County, but rather New Jersey.
