Qt-Console: every Qt-application now available for the console!
Topic: Computers 9:58 pm EST, Mar 31, 2002

Just plain useful the next time you are rebuilding a server from the console and you didn't load X-windows on it (and don't want X-windows on it).

Q&A: Java creator Gosling says .Net falls short of expectations | Computerworld News & Features Story
Topic: Miscellaneous 1:53 am EST, Mar 30, 2002

The inventor of Java is switching to the Mac too. Considering recent M$ and Intel idiocies, I would say it's high time for you to start thinking about it as well. . .

:

Q: Some corporate users have expressed an interest in using .Net for the front end and Java on the back end. How does that strike you?

A: It's certainly the case that Microsoft pretty much has an absolute monopoly on the client. Certified and convicted. And so in some sense that makes it sort of easier for them on the client end. I think these folks would be amazed to discover how easy it is to write client software on the PC in Java. That works very well. And from a personal point of view, I personally actually read the [Windows] XP license and decided I couldn't sign it. So I've been shifting over to Mac.

Santa Clara County v. Southern Pac. R.R.
Topic: Politics and Law 7:11 pm EST, Mar 28, 2002

This is why the Universe is screwed up. Because some imbecile judge decided that Corporations have the same rights as persons.

Fix this and you've come a long way towards fixing everything.

Ridiculous things like corporate ownership of copyrights, indictment of Andersen, and the ability of corporations (meaning their manager/owners) to avoid responsibility for their actions all go away.

Corporations are not people. They are conglomerations of people. It's like equating a barrel full of apples with a single apple. It's broken logic.

To put it more simply, if corporations suddenly did not exist would it really matter? No, of course not. It's not like if people suddenly existed. Their are just a construct of our common consciousness. A creation. A Straw Man.

Cool. Anti-M$ T-shirts. If only I had some money...I guess the joke is probably a bit esoteric for those who don't know what KMFDM is purported to stand for, but that only makes the shirt that much more interesting.
