Topic: Science 9:54 pm EST, Nov 29, 2004

] A Danish company, Aresa Biodetection, has developed
] genetically-modified flowers that change color when their
] roots come in contact with nitrogen dioxide in the soil.

This is awesome.

Poem

I wake up
The world is black
Are my eyes open?
Am I truly awake?
My ears are ringing
My head is pounding
There is silence
I can’t hear anything!
Will I ever hear again?
The room begins to spin
Or am I spinning?
I Scream!
Did anyone hear me?
Did I really scream?
I am in oblivion
Am I scared?
I can’t decide!
What a Rush

] Kevin Winson, 46, had called police to his home after one
] of his daughters came home intoxicated. However, his
] attempt to teach his 16-year-old daughter a lesson took a
] bizarre twist.

] When police arrived at his home, the girl informed the
] police that she was afraid, because of what her father
] was hiding in their home.

] The young girl led police to a crawl space where her
] father was keeping a stash of guns and hundreds of vials
] of illegal drugs.

Greene's feat typifies Georgia career
Topic: Sports 12:20 pm EST, Nov 28, 2004

] if there was any doubt what David Greene meant to No. 8
] Georgia's program, he erased it Saturday with an
] inspiring final performance Sanford Stadium.

] After spending three quarters nursing a cracked bone in
] his left thumb and watching his heir, D.J. Shockley,
] struggle holding onto a 16-point lead, the Bulldogs'
] senior quarterback came in for Georgia's final series to
] secure a 19-13 victory Saturday over Georgia Tech, a team
] he's never lost to in four years.

Tech put up a good fight in the third quarter. There were some injuries to several important players that may have had an impact. Overall it was a good game.

] A Gobble approach to email.

] In 1621, a few hundred Pilgrims and Native Americans sat
] down to celebrate a bountiful harvest. The feast lasted
] three days, and included fowl, venison, fish, berries,
] watercress, lobster, dried fruit, clams, and plums. There
] was no pumpkin pie, however. There was also an alarming
] lack of user-friendly webmail services.

] Now, 383 years later, it's once again time to celebrate
] what has come to be known as Thanksgiving a time to
] gather with family and friends and give thanks for all
] that we have. We have many things to be thankful for. But
] mostly, we are thankful for you our users who
] remind us of why we work so hard all year and why we love
] what we do. That's better than all the dried fruit and
] clams in the world.

] Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you for making our approach to
] email yours.

] Gobble gobble,

Kevin Shelley Addresses Voting Systems Panel
Topic: Local Information 5:38 pm EST, Nov 24, 2004

] The core of our American democracy, members, is the right
] to vote. And implicit in that right is the notion that
] that vote be private, that vote be secure, and that vote
] be counted as it was intended when it was cast by the
] voter. I think what we're encountering is a pivotal
] moment in our democracy where all that is being called
] into question the privacy of the vote, the
] security of the vote, and the accuracy of the vote. It
] troubles me, and it should trouble you.

After a lengthy discussion with my grandmother who has worked the polls of every election for the past 45 years I was doing some research and ran across this quote by Kevin Shelley (CA secretary of state).

RE: The Values-Vote Myth
Topic: Current Events 8:57 pm EST, Nov  7, 2004

] Alright, I'm speaking as a single person here, and not as a
] married person, but let me try to take this one on anyway.
] "Marriage" is not just a legal term, it's an emotional
] *foundation* for the vast majority of adults in the world,
] that has *everything* to do with them. Their marriage is
] their center. The choice of who to marry is an enormously
] personal and powerful decision, that has ramifications through
] all parts of a person's life -- their family, their finances,
] their emotional well-being, their health, their lifetime
] goals, *everything*. Just like people wear a wedding ring
] every single day of their adult lives, they are aware of their
] marriage with nearly every breath they take. To say that
] marriage isn't important is like saying that children aren't
] important.
]
] The concept of marriage isn't just about Christianity or
] religion or conservative politics -- marriage is pretty much
] as intense a personal decision as a human being can make, and
] if many people want to defend the sanctity of that concept, I
] can't blame them.
]
] So again, I have to say that I don't think the gay marriage
] issue is just related to gay-bashing or conservative Christian
] politics -- there's a lot more at stake.

Exactly! These people feel the exact same way. Just because they are involved with someone of the same sex does not change the emotions and feelings that are involved. In fact it most likely intensifies them.
