"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Log of Protest activites - 2 pulled off floor during Bush's speech
Topic: Elections 11:01 pm EDT, Sep  2, 2004

I was watching the speech. The crowd broke out into '4 more years' twice. Each time Bush looked happy at first then worried. After the second girl was taken out by some MIB types, he started looking more than a bit nervous.

ABCNEWS.com : Poll: As Convention Opens, Bush Has Edge

] Though the "swift boat" controversy is a convenient foil,
] and can't have helped Kerry, the shift looks to represent
] broader assessments. The Massachusetts senator has lost
] ground on unrelated items ranging from "a vision for the
] future" to trust to handle health care and education.

I think you are right - the press's darling has been chosen. I saw more air time to old mean looking white people waving flip flops last night than to the thousands and thousands on the streets outside protesting.

Zell Miller is Going to BURN IN HELL
Topic: Elections 11:40 pm EDT, Sep  1, 2004

If hell exists; which one can only hope that it does, because if God exists then he's no kind of God unless he creates a hell for Democrat Senator Zell Miller to burn in. In fact, even if the universe exists without a God, as many would contend, then it may still be within the inarticulate power of this vast mass of galaxies, nebulae and planets to create - within itself - a dark and steaming corner of itself where Mr. Zell Miller can dwell, for eternity, in unspeakable pain. We can call it hell or we can call it Georgia. Just so long as Senator Zell Miller suffers in it.

So - yes - Senator Zell Miller is a very bad person. Let's examine why.

DDoS for Hire - FBI busts DDoS mafia
Topic: Computer Security 5:22 pm EDT, Sep  1, 2004

A Massachusetts businessman allegedly paid members of the computer underground to launch organized, crippling distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks against three of his competitors, in what federal officials are calling the first criminal case to arise from a DDoS-for-hire scheme.

Most of the hostages are 1st and 2nd graders - 50 to be killed at a time .....
Topic: Current Events 2:13 pm EDT, Sep  1, 2004

the hostages have threatened "for every destroyed fighter, they will kill 50 children and for every injured fighter - 20 (children),"
-----------------
****I would go postal if I thought my child was being held like this.
-----------------
About 17 militants, men and women, stormed the three-story building and herded captives into the gymnasium. They forced children to stand at the windows and warned they would blow up the school if police intervened, said Alexei Polyansky, a police spokesman for southern Russia.

Multiple Intelligence Test

I'm not so sure that this test is that accurate. lol I'm highly verbal/linguistic and spacial, but I don't fancy myself as being overly musical and I'd make an awful musician.

I scored:
Linguistic: 9

Logical-Mathematical: 6

Spatial: 10

Bodily-Kinesthetic: 2

Musical: 11

Interpersonal: 6

Intrapersonal: 8

RNC Protests
Topic: Miscellaneous 9:05 am EDT, Aug 30, 2004

C-SPAN has a camera looking around 7th Av, which as far as the eye can see is packed with protesters. All was looking like a nice peaceful protest until some group decided it would be a good idea to set a big green float on fire. I just finished watching a big green thing burning in front of the McDonalds just north of The Garden. Seems very early for burning things in the street.

I have been hoping that the people would respect the city, respect each other, and even respect the rights of the political opponents being protested. Stuff like the burning floats will only force the police and fire department to close the street. Not a good sign of things to come.

I was planning to head into the city Monday or Tuesday, however now I have a feeling I will not be able to get anywhere near the place.

.....I came into work and the title of the AJC said "RNC focuses on Unity" or something like that, and I got such a great laugh. Unity. Bush. Right.

The Silver Comet Trail
Topic: Recreation 9:03 am EDT, Aug 30, 2004

Imagine gliding along on your bike through the north Georgia countryside, crossing a 500-foot-long trestle over a rushing river below, winding between rock cliffs and weaving among tall stately pines. Imagine doing this without having to worry about cars and trucks. Now imagine doing this for 60 miles on one trail!
No, that's not a dream, it's the Silver Comet Trail.

The trail is amazing. It is not a difficult ride and it has beautiful scenery. So if you are looking for somewhere to get a workout without having to worry about traffic this is an viable option.

We ride this all the time. Its awesome. Just be careful if you have kids with you to make sure they stay to one side or the other of the path...otherwise some of the faster bikers sneak up and you have a kid with a wreck on your hands.
